FAQ
Asked and answered.
Why are sessions recommended at 90 minutes?Because shorter doesn't hold up: a randomized trial found 30-minute massages performed no better than no treatment, while hour-long sessions produced significant, dose-dependent improvement. Kinetic's recommended 90 minutes is the clinical bar built on that research: time to assess, work thoroughly, and re-check. Full explanation here.
Can I get a 60-minute session?Case by case, at the practitioner's discretion, typically for existing clients between full sessions. Mention it in your request.
How does booking work?Concierge on the way in, frictionless after. Every new client is personally reviewed: Kinetic takes a request first, confirms fit and timing, and sets up your profile and intake. From then on booking is self-serve: pick your day, time, and service, with card on file and reminders handled. Start with a request.
What do I need at home?Room for a 6×3-foot table with walking space around it. Everything else (table, fresh linens, equipment) arrives with the practitioner.
What should I wear?Whatever's comfortable. Sessions are draped professionally at all times; sports-massage work can also be done clothed in athletic wear where preferred.
Do you take insurance?Kinetic is a self-pay practice and doesn't bill insurance. Payment is due at session; HSA/FSA eligibility varies by plan. Here's how FSA/HSA reimbursement and itemized receipts work.
What's the cancellation policy?Cancellations need 24 hours' notice. Late cancellations and no-shows are charged 50% of the booked session. Full terms in Policies.
Is this medical treatment? No. Bodywork at Kinetic supports comfort, mobility, and recovery; it doesn't diagnose or treat medical conditions. Kinetic's practitioner is a practicing ER nurse, which deepens assessment and safety, including knowing when a physician should look first.
How far do you travel?Servicing Northern New Jersey and New York City. All other locations: contact Kinetic for availability. The home corridor runs through Ridgewood, Saddle River, Franklin Lakes, and Ho-Ho-Kus. Service area.
Do you do corporate events or parties?Yes: on-site chair massage for employee appreciation days, private spa parties at home, and grand-opening activations. Events & group services; inquire through the request form.
Do you work on surgical scars?Yes: focused scar-tissue work once the incision is fully healed and your surgeon has cleared massage. It's bodywork supporting comfort and pliability, not a medical treatment; surgical follow-up stays with your surgeon.
