Library / What to Expect From an In-Home Session
What to expect when the studio comes to you.
The promise of in-home work is simple: no commute, no waiting room, and recovery that starts the moment the session ends because you are already home. Here is how a visit actually runs.
Before the first session
Once your first appointment is confirmed, intake and consent forms arrive by email and get signed from your phone. The practical requirement at home is modest: room for a 6×3-foot table with walking space around it. Living rooms, finished basements, and home gyms are the usual suspects.
The four phases
Arrival and setup. Table, fresh linens, and equipment come in and set up in about ten minutes. Assessment. A movement review and a conversation about training, history, and what your body is doing this week. The work. Unhurried, focused treatment, the reason Kinetic recommends 90 minutes. Re-check and plan. Movement gets re-tested, notes get compared, and the cadence for what's next gets set.
The details people ask about
Wear whatever is comfortable; sessions are draped professionally at all times, and sports-massage work can be done clothed in athletic wear where preferred. Payment is due at session, and every visit comes with an itemized receipt suitable for FSA/HSA claims where your plan allows them (how that works). And one boundary worth stating plainly: this is licensed bodywork, not medical care. Nothing gets diagnosed or treated, and a practitioner who is also a practicing ER nurse knows exactly when something should see a physician first.
